Charles "Shane" Reed, 53, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 in his home. He was born November 22, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Charles & Evelyn Reed.

Shane was a 1982 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. Shane was a movie buff, animal lover, and professional story teller - always sharing his fish tales. He enjoyed "road tripping" and loved watching sports, bleeding Scarlet & Grey on Saturdays and Orange & Brown on Sundays. Shane was an all around great guy who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Jo (Fritts) Reed of Mechanicsburg; his fur babies, Bella, Ray & Rudy; his sisters, Pamela Lynn Reed of Plain City and Kimberly Susan (Dale) Ross of Urbana; his "brother from another mother," Craig (Debby) Howard; his mother and father-in-law, Rick & Barb Fritts; his brother and sister-in-law, Randy & Jodi Roach; his nieces and nephews, Melissa (Kenny) Ross, Audrey (Greg) Fishilevich of Los Angeles, CA, Elizabeth Ross of Dublin, OH, Emma (Landen) Charles of Plain City, OH, and Ozzy Roach of Mechanicsburg, OH; his lifelong childhood friends, Roger (Sherry) Snyder and Brian Amrine; and his special neighbors, The Loy and Means Families.

Shane is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Grover & Emma Reed, Bill Fritts, and Charles & Marguarite Reed.

A memorial lantern release service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Burnham Building in Goshen Memorial Park, S. Parkview Rd., Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044. A time to celebrate Shane's life will be held for 3 hours prior to the lantern release from 4-7 PM. Services are entrusted to SKILLMAN, McDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the memorial to make donations.
