March 26, 2017Marvelene A. Kizer, 83, of Urbana passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Vancrest of Urbana. She was born May 8, 1933 in Urbana, the daughter of the late William E. and Asenath A. (Barger) Erwin.
Marvelene was a self-employed housekeeper and worked at Green Hills Retirement Community while maintaining her role as a mother at home. She was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Marvelene and her husband enjoyed camping; they were members of the Pound Puppies Camping Club and the Skylighters Camping Club. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, completing puzzles, and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie L. Adams (Randy Johnson) of Mechanicsburg; her sons, William J. (Judy) Kizer, Michael L. (Alice) Kizer, and Chuck R. (Debbie) Kizer, all of Urbana; her 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Robert (Nancy) Erwin, Ronnie (Kathie) Erwin, and Donnie (Barb) Erwin; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William E. Kizer. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff on the blue wing at Vancrest Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 30 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Rev. Sherri Blackwell officiating. Family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
Serving as pall bearers: Kyle Kizer, Thomas Wagner, Scott Adams, Zach Adams, Sheldon Adams, Alex Adams, Rickie Brewer and Andrew Kizer.
