Entered into Rest

August 2, 2017

Patricia L. "Pat" (Bowers) Robbins, 74, of Urbana, peacefully slipped away Thursday August 2nd, surrounded by her family. She was born June 17, 1943, the eldest daughter of E. Lowell and Winifred (Scott) Bowers. Pat was a graduate of Urbana High School.
She was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of the United States, serving as leader for her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. In 2015 she received the Legacy Award for her years of dedication and service. She was the epitome of a good Girl Scout; always helping when needed, being courageous and kind, and truly made the world a better place. Pat had a huge impact on so many Girl Scouts' lives.
Pat retired from CT Communication Message Center where she made many lifelong friends. Earlier in her life she worked even harder as a stay-at-home mom for her children. Pat was also babysitter extraordinaire for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always making sure they were sent home full of plenty of sweets and love.
Pat is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 54 years, Gary, whom she married January 20, 1963, as well as her children Pam (Andrew) Oliver of Marysville, Rusty (Teresa) Robbins of Columbus, Jim (Melisa) Robbins of Saint Paris, and Stella New of Urbana. Also keeping her memory alive are her grandchildren, Bradley and Tyler Green, Chad Oliver, Corey Adams, Blair Hayes, CJ New, Christian, Jesse, Melany, and Taylor Robbins, and Natalie Swisher, along with her treasured great-grandchildren Madalyn, Trinity, Kaylee, Zion, Cheyenne, Trevor, Avery, Ethan, Preston, and Aubrie, her beloved sisters and brother, Gloria (Porter) Combs, Mary Ann (DJ) Wheeler, Lowell (Debra) Bowers, and Karen (Mike) Martin. Her brother and sisters-in-law, Ron Robbins, Marilyn Kepford, and Jan King and nieces and nephews too many to count. Honorary daughters are Tisha, Cindi, Rose, and Mindy, along with the many others she "adopted" over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her parent's in-law, Russell T and Margaret Robbins, her sister-in-law Mary Tillman, brothers-in-law Bill and Ed Robbins, her nephews, Billy Robbins, Tony Rutter, Rob and Randy Tillman, and Tony Leopard, and her niece Winnie Mae Leopard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, August 6 from 2-5p.m. in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Grable officiating. Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Kindred Care Hospice for the loving care they provided to our mother.
