Emma Loray Carter, 79 of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, August 6, 2017 in her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born August 8, 1937 in Adams, KY. Loray graduated from Urbana Local High School and then received her Registered Nursing degree from Community Hospital Nursing Program, Springfield Ohio. After raising her family she followed her passion for nursing. She retired after many years of service from Heartland Care Center, Urbana, Ohio.
She was a member of the Mechanicsburg Free Will Baptist Church and currently attending Beatty Free Will Baptist Church, Springfield, Ohio.
Loray was a dedicated Christian and enjoyed sharing her faith with others through teaching Sunday school, attending services and singing at church.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and loved spending time with her family. As our hearts ache for the physical loss of her, we find solace knowing that she is now with God. She is at peace. And for that, we are grateful.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, whom she married April 5, 1958, Atlee E. Carter, her children, Robin (Joe) McDargh, Sandy Jude and Tim (Lori) Carter, her grandchildren, Thad, Adrienne, Joel, James, Jared, Ryan, Jacob and Daniel, great grandchildren, Haidyn, Liam, Zayne, Case, Dawson and Tucker; her sisters, Lorraine Campbell, Phyllis Kay (Dave) Kimbler & Wanda Jo Campbell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oren and Florence (Moore) Roberts; her sisters, Delores Tackett, Virginia Pearl Gordon & Norma Jean Standley.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 in the funeral home with Pastor Steve Wallace officiating.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, KY.
