Gertrude Mabel Hagan, 86, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Legacy House - Hospice, Ocala, Florida.
She was born August 7, 1931 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, the daughter of Oscar Sherman and Garnet E. (Martin) Hartley.
Gertrude was a 1949 graduate of Bloomingville High School. She retired from Sears after 20 years in the sales department and attended Meadowbrook Church in Ocala, Florida. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, camping, and spending time with her dogs. As our hearts ache for the physical loss of her, we find solace knowing that she is now at peace and with God, for that we are grateful.
Gertrude is survived by her husband of 66 years, Russell Vance Hagan; her daughter, Carolyn (William) Kimpel of Missouri; her sons, Douglas (Anne) Hagan of Ocala , Florida, and Michael (Raffaela) Hagan of Columbus, Ohio; her 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; her siblings, Wayne Hartley and Maxine Hunter.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Howard and Eldon Hartley.
Funeral services to celebrate Gertrude's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, 257 W. Main St., Mechanicsburg, OH 43044 with Pastor Mike Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
